Don Juan Tenorio

Hace poco leí, por un lado, “Don Juan Tenorio”, de José Zorrilla, y, por otro, “El burlador de Sevilla”, de Fray Gabriel Téllez, a.k.a. Tirso de Molina. He de reconocer que esta figura tradicional, este mito cultural, me ha encantado.

Creo que mi primer acercamiento a este personaje fue viendo en el instituto la versión filmada para televisión (rollo Estudio 1) de la obra de Zorrilla. Era cutre a más no poder, en blanco y negro, protagonizada por un vociferante Paco Rabal y una jovencísima Conchita Velasco. Aún me fascinan y me hacen reír, al mismo tiempo, esas actitudes caballerescas tan grandilocuentes como ridículas. Una de mis gracias favoritas es taparme el rostro hasta los ojos con la manga y declamar “¿Quién sois?”.

Y es que a mí me marcó una secuencia mítica de esa representación teatral grabada para televisión: en la que Don Juan y Don Luis se encuentran. Van embozados, y como no se fían ni de su sombra, primero se preguntan mutuamente por su identidad. Y después de un diálogo como éste (más o menos):
-¿Quién va?
-¿Quién sois?
-Yo he preguntado primero… ¡descubríos si sois hombre!
-Soy Don Juan Tenorio
-¡Y yo Don Luis Mejía!
Y se sientan a charlar de sus cosas. Todo esto, trufado de ripios, claro, alguno de lo más cachondo. Esta fascinación por la grandilocuencia caballeresca, cuanto más romántica mejor, me ha llevado a soñar con ser un caballero en un montón de siglos y reinos diferentes. Y poder ir por la vida soltando frases como “¡Muerto soy!”, “¡No queda sino batirnos!” o “Vuesa merced”.
